Some great tips to improve your quality of life

Change is very complicated. You have tried going to the gym, being more confident, going out more, spending less… We have all written long lists of resolutions that we know perfectly well that we are not going to fulfill. It is all a matter of willpower, which seems sometimes conspicuous by its absence. We want to improve our quality of life, but we don't know how to do it. We propose a few tips for you to achieve it.

1. Face your fears

It's one of the hardest things out there, and it's so much easier said than done. Facing your fears is difficult, but not impossible. To achieve this, try standing in front of a mirror and saying everything that terrifies you, out loud. When it is said like this, it becomes real, and only then can you alleviate them. Try to believe that you are not afraid, and in time you will succeed. Change is good, although scary.

2. Try to watch humorous movies whenever you can

They say that "laughter is the best medicine", and it is a truth like a temple. Think about the last time you saw a comedy, how did you feel afterward? Surely you still remember some jokes that were told in that movie that you found so funny. Laughter is a tool that helps us socialize (however, we are attracted to people who make us laugh), which also reduces levels of stress hormones and releases the so-called "happiness hormones", endorphins. Laugh, it's also free, and your health will thank you.

3. Do not deprive yourself of indulging yourself from time to time

You may be following one of those strict diets, but your willpower is almost certainly about to falter. Life is too short to be unhappy. We are not saying that you go to a fast-food buffet and turn purple, but eating an ounce of chocolate from time to time (100% black is the best for your health) or having a beer with your friends is not going to happen either. . The key is not to indulge in excesses.

4. Plan a trip every six months

It seems crazy, but it does not have to be all-inclusive in Punta Cana and a tour of the Norwegian fjords in the same year (what eye, if you can, do all that and whatever you want). The key is to try to disconnect once every six months from the pressures of work and routine life, and it doesn't have to be excessively expensive. Getaway to a small town, enjoy the coast closest to your home for a weekend, book some massages and some aromatherapy. Try to save during all that time, put technology aside and dedicate a weekend for yourself (and whomever you want). Your body will appreciate this "reset".

5. Change image

Legendary fashion designer Coco Chanel once said that "the woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life." You may feel like you've stuck because you always see everything the same. Does it sound familiar to you? A small change could make you more confident. A haircut, color change, new clothes of another style… You decide how you want to do it (and how much you want to risk). Seeing yourself with a new image will make you see life differently.

6. Take a relaxing bath with salts once a week

We are more of showers than baths, that's why saving water, but in situations of extreme stress, a hot bath with relaxing salts can be good for your mental and emotional health. Bath salts have beneficial properties and have healing effects to treat different diseases (muscular, dermatological, etc). They are an excellent anti-stress treatment, they help calm fatigue, eliminate toxins from our body and provide softness to the skin, among other benefits. What more could you want? Take a salt bath for therapeutic purposes and relax, you will not regret it.

7. Sleep with socks

Do you sleep in socks? Are you one of those who don't take them off for the world or are you afraid of those words from your grandmother, who told you that if you didn't take them off you would get chilblains? Urban legends, because it's a matter of taste, really. Now, it may surprise you to know that sleeping in socks is good for your health. Socks allow us to establish body temperature when sleeping (listen to your mother when she tells you “don't go barefoot, because the cold catches your feet”), avoiding feeling cold at night or when we wake up, promoting a better rest. Of course, be careful, because infections and circulation problems could occur if you do not sleep with the right socks (always opt for 100% cotton socks, so your skin can perspire).

8. Make a real effort to be less selfish.

Despite what you may think, you are selfish. The human being is selfish by nature, he moves by his own interest and uses that selfishness as a self-defense mechanism to maintain inner balance and survival. According to the philosopher Hobbes, all human behavior is self-interested, but that does not mean that being selfish is a defect. Sometimes selfishness is a necessity, as it helps us fight for ourselves and achieve our own happiness. The problem is when that need becomes excess, and we lose our reason. Try to control those impulses, and put yourself in the place of the other.

9. Appreciate the people who accompany you in your day today

How long has it been since you sat down with your parents to chat without having your mobile phone in front of you or the television on? Have you seen your grandparents lately? How long has it been since you stayed with that friend you always put off? Do you get along with your co-workers? Many of us tend to put aside those people who are closest to us in our day-to-day lives because we assume that they will always be there. We have good news and bad news, the bad news is that they will be by your side, but not forever. The good news for you is, you can still fix it. We are one of those who do not realize what they have until they lose it. Spend time with them, everyone will appreciate it.

10. 'Carpe Diem', but with ahead

Live in the moment, do not leave for tomorrow what you can do today. "Tomorrow" may come, but with consequences. Think that every moment has something to offer. If you doubt your desire to do something, it is probably because you can do it.

11. Set goals that you can achieve

You may want to take a trip that is out of your budget, lose weight, have a child. There are goals and goals. Try setting yourself short-term goals, rather than focusing on things that you really can't control. Take a calendar, set very short-term goals, and stick to those plans. For example, try to set realistic amounts to save, or to lose weight. That way, achieving it will be much more feasible and you will feel more motivated to achieve that final goal.

12. Try not to dwell on love matters so much

Another one of those things that are easier to do than to say, but you will really gain health if you don't think about it too much. The world of love and the couple is very complicated, especially when both of you are not on the same level. Maybe you want to say something to him and you don't dare, or maybe the other person wants commitment and you are not at that point. To resolve this type of situation, it is best to speak clearly and honestly with the other person involved, only then will you avoid thinking about something that concerns both of you and you do not know how to solve it. Remember: trying to get the other person to figure it out for yourself doesn't work at all.

13. Eat seasonal foods

You know that "you are what you eat"? It is a phrase that you have heard on many occasions, but it is true. If you look closely at the food you eat, there is surely something you could improve. Change your diet and bet on seasonal foods, they are tastier, you will enjoy more and you will see how you fill up with energy.

14. Put the technology aside and enjoy the environment around you

Write a journal. The amount of benefits that writing has is infinite. Those who write are fortunate to have better mental health as well as less stress. Put down your phone and computer and take a few minutes to think about yourself. Get yourself a journal and write down what you have achieved during the day, what you dreamed the night before, your fears, whatever it is that is on your mind at that precise moment. Your mental health will thank you.

15. Follow your instinct

Who better than you is going to know what happens to you? If your instinct tells you that you should follow a certain path, go for it. And above all, be yourself!
